O'Connors Engineering Grant

Recently, Andrew selected the 2018 O'Connors Engineering Grant recipient - Samantha Stevens.

Samantha won the award for numerous reasons, including: academic achievements and her financial need. Samantha's goal is to  analysis the effects of plastic molded motorcycle fairings in protecting the motorcycle engine in comparison to a roll cage in stunt bikes in crashes. Her aim is to design and innovate a fairing design that is light weight at a reasonable cost and for the design to be used in the motorcycle racing industry for amateur racers as an alternative to replacing expensive plastic molded fairings.

Samantha is approaching the final stages of her degree and her final year project which will require her to upgrade her hardware to efficiently analyse motorcycle impact zones.   At some stage over the next few months, Samantha will be coming in to O'Connors to meet the team and learn a bit more about what we do.
